About Us

I’m John Eccker. My wife, Lisa Roszko, and I own and operate The Springfield. We purchased it at the end of 2016, primarily for the four apartments in the adjacent building. We’re both programmers, but I started buying and remodeling rental properties, which is what got me interested in the property. We originally planned to just freshen up the hall and rent it out bare-bones. But while doing inventory of all the equipment, Lisa changed her mind. She loves cooking – we host 30 people each year for Christmas dinner – and decided she wanted to do the catering herself. This prompted a year-long remodel of the hall, transforming it into what you see in the pictures. Lisa is now the chef, and I take care of the facility as well as other things.

We both have roots in the area. I was born and raised in Tharptown, then left the area for college followed by a commission in the Navy. I moved back into the area in 2008. Lisa’s grandfather was from Mt Carmel, and we had the privilege of hosting a wedding for the branch of his family that dropped the “z” from the last name.
