The Springfield is a full service facility. We provide trained bartenders, and no outside alcohol is permitted.
A cash bar can work in one of two ways - either the guests pay for their own drinks, or we can run a tab which you must pay at the end of the event.
For cash bars, bartender costs are charged separately from the drinks. One bartender is required for every 75 guests. Bartender fees are subject to 6% sales tax, but not the 20% gratuity charge. Alcohol costs are not taxable, and are not subject to the gratuity charge.
If running a tab, you can do so in several different ways depending on your budget. You can pay for all drinks served, you can pay for just beer and wine and have guests pay for mixed drinks, you can pay for premium drinks and have guests pay the bartender the extra cost if they want a top shelf drink (typically $1 a drink), etc.
(we've found paying for a bartender and running a full tab is generally less expensive than having an Open Bar - for one wedding the tab was about $100 less expensive than if they had an Open Bar, but for another wedding it was almost half the cost)

The cost for an open bar is based on the duration of the party and the number of attendees who are of legal drinking age (whether or not they drink). With an open bar, there is no charge for bartenders. There is also no charge for soda if you purchase an open bar. Open bar prices are subject to neither sales tax, nor the 20% gratuity charge. An open bar cannot be combined with a cash/tab bar - it must be one or the other for the entire length of the event.
For longer events where there is a seated dinner, we suggest closing the bar for an hour during dinner to help save you some money. For example, for a five hour wedding reception you could pay for four hours of open bar and the bar can be closed for an hour while people sit and eat.
